We live such a strange life working in healthcare. We are awake when the world is asleep. We’re expected to work 12+ hours with minimal breaks. The end of the shift is sometimes just a suggestion as we cannot abandon our patients. We’re a strange group of humans – dedicating our lives to help others while we neglect to take care of ourselves. That narrative needs to change to prevent burnout.
